This is a classic mistake made by beginners.

The internet is awash with people trying to promote their money making ideas and guess what...they are NOT making money!

If you have written a book on how to start a mail order business why aren't you doing that?

I derive ALL of my income online selling ebooks and other joint ventures. I have been doing this for the past number of years and I can usually tell straight away if something is bona fide or not.

There are many avenues to success. The best way to become successful is to give away that which you most want...

#1 - Do you already have a website? If so, send it to me and I'll give you better advice.

#2 - Check out and let other people market for you.

#3 - That is a TOUGH market, your book needs to be good. If you want it reviewed, let me know. I've read literally hundreds of small business, marketing, advertising, and mail order books.

#4 - Write short articles that you can submit to websites, including links to your website.

One concern I have with your comments, if you're "much in need of money" why is anyone going to believe you're an authority on this subject? Don't let that stop you, but remember, if you want to be seen as an authority on making money, saying how much you need money is really a VERY BAD idea.

Last piece of advice, try anything, do anything, just get started. Keep track of results of everything, the hits, the clicks, the sales, run multiple ads or landing pages on your site, and compare the stats, use the best, and then try to beat that one.

Hi,

The fact that you have a e book on how to start a mail order business but don't know how to market it is kinda scary; In your book how to you tell them to market their business?

However I like the fact that you are trying to do something for yourself.

It sounds like you need a product that will virutually sell itself. I would like for you to visit this site and really consider the opportunity that is presented.

Please check this out and email me if you have any questions at all.

I would start a blog and give away free tips from your book. You can offer your product on ebay, amazon, lulu, and cafepress to sell. I would also get some business cards and pass them out at all times. In you signature line, I would always link to your blog/website and hopefully get sales that way.

Their are other ways of advertising your e-book besides Google Adwords. With Adwords the trick is to find niche keywords that do not have too much competition. You should not be paying more then 5 cents a click for a keyword.

Try and use 3 or 4 word keyword combinations. You can search this website:

This will tell you how many people are searching for paticular keywords and how much competition their is for the related words.

Another way to advertise your book is to write articles. You must write an article related to the topic of your e-book and you can place a link to it in the authors bio box. After you write your article you can submit it to article directories and if it is a good article it will get syndicated on lots of other peoples websites with your link on it.

Do you have a website? You can get a free turnkey website here:

It is completely ready to take orders and you can customize it to sell your e-book. This service will also show you how to promote and drive traffic to your site and make sales.

Another good way to promote your book is in online forums, newsgroups and message boards. Network with people in these forums and place a link in your signature file to your e-book. When people start to see you as an authority on a subject they will gain your trust and be more likely to buy from you.

A really good networking site is DirectMatches:

Here you can network with over 70,000 people and promote your business opportunity or product. It is free to join.

Another way to advertise is solo ads in e-zines. This is a good way to reach thousands of people when you don't have a list.

You can pay somebody with a huge mailing list to place a top sponsor ad in their e-zine and you will get lots of exposure to your e-book. You can also advertise on other peoples websites too but when you do this kind of advertising make sure you track your ads and make sure your return on investment is paying off. This kind of advertising can be a lot of money but is the most responsive.
